A tragic and fatal accident occurred on Virginia’s I-77 this past weekend.
VA State Police have released the names of three people killed in the I-77 Mother’s Day crash. 45 year old, Anthony Asbury of Wytheville was driving south in a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser when for an unknown reason a 1994 Chevy Camaro driven by 28 year old Shan B. Martens of Bassett crossed the center median and collided with his vehicle. Marten’s 9 month old daughter, Bria Hensley was a passenger in the vehicle.
Asbury, Martens and her infant daughter were killed in the crash. Two other people, Peter and Beverly InterDonato of Ripley, West Virginia were injured when their Toyota Camry became entangled with the crash. The cars caught fire shortly after the accident.
VA state police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
Accidents such as these can have multiple causes such as:
- drowsy driving or falling asleep at the wheel
- texting or using a cell phone while driving
- over correcting and loosing control of the vehicle
- mechanical failure
- defective and dangerous products
- driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- speeding

If you have been injured or you have lost someone due to wrongful death, I urge you to call an attorney to get help. Hiring an attorney allows you to focus on the needs of your family and not on trying to negotiate a fair settlement for your loss.
