A Salem woman was killed in a deadly crash in the early morning hours of May 31, 2015. Helen Marie Kennedy, 42, was ejected from a 1997 Jeep Wrangler when it ran off the road and struck several trees. The driver of the jeep was injured and taken to a hospital. Police believe that alcohol may have been why the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
Another woman was killed Friday morning when a log stuck her vehicle. Tina Catron, a mother of 6 and a resident of Campbell County was driving on route 29 at approximately 5:45 am with her 4 year old son. He was not injured in the accident. Investigators believe that the log may have rolled off of the back of a truck. No one has come forward and investigators are still searching for witnesses or for the driver of the truck to come forward. Investigators have also stated that the truck driver may be unaware that the log fell off of the truck.
