A survey recently conducted by AT&T and published by the Associated Press revealed that more Americans from all age groups are STILL texting and driving despite numerous public service campaigns making drivers aware of the dangers.
The survey showed that 98% of the respondents stated they knew of the dangers of texting while driving, however a shocking two-thirds reported that they read texts while stopped at a red light while over 25% admitted that they have sent texts while the car was in motion.
The respondents were aged 16 to 65 years of age. This also shows that texting while driving is not just a “teenage driving” problem.
When asked why the participants texted while driving, answers varied. Most said that they felt a sense of satisfaction when receiving and completing messages. Many also reported that they don’t believe that texting affects their driving abilities in a negative way.
