Our entire community has been united in thoughts and prayers for the missing 5 year old boy from Pulaski.
Noah Thomas, went missing early last Sunday morning and remained missing for five excruciating days until his body was found in a septic tank located on the same property as his home.
Speculation as to what happened to Noah has been all over social media.
Some say it was an accident, others suspect foul play.
After doing a quick search I found several incidents where children and adults have accidentally fallen into septic tanks and died:
- On March 18,2015 a 73 year old Louisville, KY woman fell into a septic tank, she was found and taken to a hospital where she died from injuries sustained in the fall.
- On July 13, 2014, a 4 year old New Jersey girl stepped on a septic tank lid while chasing a ball and she disappeared. Family members saw it happen and ran to the opening of the septic tank, where they saw the youngster swimming in the sludge of the tank. Luckily, the girl’s uncle was able to grab her hand and pull her to safety. Witnesses say the lid “flipped” and fell back into place after the girl fell in. She has no injuries.
- In June of 2014, a 7 year old boy died after falling into an uncovered tank in Arizona, friends saw him fall in, but sadly the boy drowned before he could be saved.
- Also in June of 2014, a 5 year old girl died after falling into a septic tank, reports say that the lid “gave way” when she stood on it.
- On December 24,2007, a 77 year old man fell head first into a septic tank. His head was completely inside of the tank, but fortunately his legs were still visible above ground. His wife saw his legs an hour after his fall and called 911.
- On June 16, 2007, a two year old boy fell into a septic tank while playing with his siblings in his own backyard. His mother was inside tending to a newborn, when the boys siblings came in yelling about their brother who had fallen into the “black hole”. The boy’s father jumped into the tank, found the boy and hoisted him back through the opening feet first. The boy suffered lung damage and pneumonia.
- On Sunday, Jan 28,2007, the body of a three year old boy was found in a septic tank. He had been missing for two days. Investigators believe that the lid simply capsized, and flipped back into place after the boy fell into the tank.
