Roanoke City Crews have worked throughout the day to plow roads, as of this posting the city is reporting
• 80% of Arterial Streets have been plowed, still covered in layer of packed snow. Intersections still need attention.
• 60% of Collector Streets have been plowed, still covered in layer of packed snow. Intersections still need attention.
• 5% of Residential Streets have been plowed.
The Roanoke City Transportation Facebook page is also reporting that the city hopes to have major arteries cleared by tomorrow morning. After temperatures drop below 20 degrees, as predicted for the next 2 days, the use of salt by the city crews will be discontinued as it is ineffective at such low temperatures.
To avoid auto accidents and unnecessary injury, Roanoke residents are asked to stay off the roads.
Residents should also be mindful of parking their cars on the street, when possible park the car in the driveway. Further tips to keep your car from being damaged by a snow plow can be found here.
Roanoke City Schools will also be closed tomorrow. A complete list of school closings can be found here.
