Mile-marker 132 must have been a horrific scene as rescue crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash that took the lives of two people on Wednesday. State police are reporting that four total vehicles were involved in the crash; two passenger cars and two tractor trailers. Not surprisingly, the drivers of the passenger vehicles perished in the collision and the drivers of the tractor trailers were not harmed. Virginia State Police have reported that both cars caught fire during the accident and first responders acted quickly to douse the flames. Fortunately, both drivers were alone at the time of the tragic pile-up. The Virginia State Police have not charged any of the drivers involved at the time of this posting.
All Southbound traffic was re-routed up the emergency lane of the Northbound roadway and detoured to Exit 137. I-81 in Roanoke County is infamous for hours-long traffic back-ups and highway fatalities.
As of the time of this posting, the identities of the victims of the deadly crash have not been released. We extend our thoughts and prayers to the families that are dealing with the loss of their loved ones.
In my law practice, I have litigated many complex and emotionally charged cases. Trucking cases on Interstate Highways often ranked highest with regards to complexity. Wrongful death cases are highest with regards to emotion. Because trucking companies have a lot to loose when one of their drivers is at fault in an accident, they will dig deep into their pockets to mount the best defense. They will deny liability and they will not cooperate with requests. They will play games and bury the plaintiff in documents. They will hire experts and point fingers at others.
And they will do this knowing that the families of the victims are grieving and that they are vulnerable. They will take advantage of the situation in an effort to pay as little as possible.
When I represent a client, I work for that client, and I work to get maximum recovery for EVERY case. I have practiced for 26 years and I have stood side by side with many fine families while arguing their cases. I know the depth of grief. I know the fury that a family lives with when they have lost someone to wrongful death. I have helped those families and I can help yours too.
I invite you to read about my past cases and their results here. You will see several cases involving passenger vehicles and trucks, pedestrians, animal attacks, and children lost to defective products.
